Darius will focus you on what is important - helping you from being distracted by earthly things - while understanding they can’t be ignored. He has lived the life you think you want to, understands the traps, and can help you navigate and address them. While he will hold you accountable, he can help you balance the forces pulling you in multiple directions.

My first real interaction with Darius, was during a staff meeting at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. This organization, also known as the US Army’s Special Operations Center of Excellence, is responsible for the selection, training, and education for the entirety of the Army’s Special Operations Forces; Special Forces (Green Berets), Civil Affairs, and Psychological Operations. When it was Darius’ time to present information to the Commanding General, he spoke of the difference between happiness and joy. He went on to say that many in our society chase happiness, and when caught it is only a temporary fulfillment…..they are let down and it negatively impacts their lives. What they are seeking is permanent fulfillment, joy, which is only possible through a relationship with our lord and savior Jesus Christ. Although there were many Faith traditions represented in the room. Darius’ words positively impacted everyone. Darius is a bear of a man, a former NFL football star and Super Bowl champion, and to hear him communicate the secret to true happiness, joy, I was forever changed. From there I took every opportunity to engage with and learn from Darius. We became great friends, and although it was never really the intention, I feel that he made me a much better leader, Soldier, and man. His life experiences, empathy, and genuine love for others made it easy for me to absorb every lesson he imparted on me. Fast forward a few years, and Darius allowed me to harness his powerful personality as part of a Dad’s Retreat. This retreat was organized for 20 fathers who had struggled with loss and/or disappointment in life. The overwhelming consensus at the end of the weekend was that Darius Holland made the weekend incredibly impactful for all.

I worked with Darius in a High Tempo, High Stress environment. In my role as the Senior Enlisted advisor to the Commander, Darius was not only able to support me and help me understand where I should focus my efforts to make a positive impact, he was also able to help all of the Soldiers and their families become the best version of themselves, be it as a Soldier/Individual, Father/Mother or Husband/Wife. He has an innate ability to sift through minutia to find what is important to a short-term solution, as well as long-term success. Darius assisted me by analyzing each situation, providing a fresh perspective on sometimes sensitive topics, allowing me to arrive at a decision, all without once telling me what he thought I should do. I am proud to call Darius a mentor, and most importantly a friend.

I have had the opportunity to see Captain Darius Holland organize and participate in numerous growth seminars for Special Operations Soldiers. In my 35 years of service I have seen many of these types of events and Darius is by far the best I have witnessed. He possesses extreme professionalism, a command of the material (spiritual, psychological, emotional, etc) that is unmatched. The other commendable part about Darius is that he changes peoples’ outcomes for the better, individuals comment on this and keep Darius in high demand, he has my highest endorsement.

Darius has been an integral part of our large Army organization’s success. He was vital to coaching and mentoring soldiers who were undertaking some of the most difficult training in the special operations community. Many were initially unsuccessful and Darius helped to coach and mentor them back into returning to training and ultimately becoming successful. For soldiers in need, Darius was always there to help them gain perspective, listen to challenges, and build a positive outlook.

As a senior leader, I needed Darius more than he needed me. Darius is that positive force that helps make any situation and organization better. Darius has a keen understanding of the environment that he works and knows how to reach people at their level. It doesn’t matter if you are the CEO of your organization or you’re a brand new employee. Darius will make you a better employee, a better leader, but more importantly a better person.

I worked with Darius through a season of leadership transition. Darius provided wise and winsome counsel rooted in the word of God and guided by his many years of organizational experience. I greatly appreciate his life and value his insights!

I met Darius in a season when I needed a trusted guide in leadership who was familiar with the real challenges of ministry leadership. The questions he asked and the open posture with which he asked them helped me articulate things that were deep in my heart and practice that I had not yet clearly learned to communicate. Darius and I worked together for several years and I observed his love and leadership in action on multiple occasions. Darius has a unique ability to provide guidance and counsel to leaders responsible for thousands as well as individuals responsible for their own actions. Darius always listens first to understand what each individual is feeling, thinking, and ultimately grappling with in their personal or professional lives. After building a shared understanding he embarks on a collaborative discussion to help you think through the issues at hand and develop your own course for self or organizational improvement. Darius will never tell you what you should do..he will simply guide you along a path that is achievable and specific to your own strengths and weaknesses. It is in this path you will see his love for his fellow man and his leadership in action. I have personally relied on Darius’s counsel through out my life and in my various roles as a Father, Husband, Senior Military Leader, and Youth Sports Coach on many occasions. Through his love and leadership I always find that I can chart a better path in my life and career.
